While in Europe preparing to compete in the IFSC World Cup climbing circuit, Canadian Sean McColl took some time to sample the fine euro limestone. During a brief visit to Rodellar, McColl bagged a one-day, three-try ascent of Minas Tirith 8c/8c+ (5.14b/c). McColl was surprised at the quick send saying “one day, three tries, this can’t be 8c+? Can it?” What is perhaps more impressive is the fact that McColl had not climbed routes outside in almost 10 months. “I think the last route I did was Dreamcatcher 5.15a back in late September,” says McColl.
