Nunavut
Baffin Island
The only grade VII super-alpine
walls in the country are located in the Clyde River area, where the Walker
Spire and Polar Sun Spire form some of the most outrageous Big Walls imaginable.
In Auyyituq national Park, peaks like Mt.s Asgard, and Freyr offer only
slightly less daunting objectives. Access to Auyyituq is by air to Pangnirtung,
and then either by sled or boat (depending on the conditions) to the Park.
From there it is as much as 5 days walk to the objectives. Sam Ford Inlet
and the Stewart Valley are even further, and usually accessed by boat or
air. These walls are only for the most seasoned and the best prepared.
