10 More Rad Canadian Bouldering Gyms

Canada has dozens of high-quality climbing gyms that provide space to train with modern equipment and holds. Many climbing gyms have roped areas, but are well known for their top bouldering walls. Below are 10 gyms where climbers can rope up, but also climb new-age bouldering problems. These are just a few of the many top gyms in Canada, more lists to come!

Climb Base5: The largest indoor climbing gym in the metro Vancouver area. It has a great balance of top bouldering problems and fun routes. They are hosting the highly anticipated November Sessions bouldering comp on Nov. 19 and 20.

Arq Mountain Centre: The newest climbing gym in southeastern B.C. and the most modern. With a big bouldering sapce and steep walls, Arq is the new climber’s hub of the Kootenays.

Elevation Place: Canmore’s only roped climbing gym also features a fun bouldering wall. While there are no steep roofs, the technical setting keeps the climbing interesting. A great option to ice climbing this winter. (Click to watch clip)

Calgary Climbing Centre: Calgary Climbing Centre has three locations, Stronghold, Chinook and Hanger, that all have great bouldering and lead walls. Their suspended boulders make of interesting problems.

Grip It: The only gym on the Alberta bouldering circuit that is not in Alberta. Grip It has some fun lead walls, but the bouldering area is top notch with interesting and creative problems.

Boulder Bear: Thunder Bay’s first commercial gym since Funky Monkey in the late 1990s. Boulder Bear has short lead walls but lots of fun bouldering space. The new go-to training centre for northwestern Ontario climbers.

Hub Climbing: One of Ontario’s best bouldering spaces, with a few short walls for rope climbing and the largest indoor bouldering space in he province. There is 18,000 square feet of floor space and 23-foot-tall (seven metres) boulder problems.

Junction Climbing Centre: One of the top climbing gyms in the London area of southern Ontario. There are fun lead walls with some steep sections and the bouldering area provides space for a number of easy and hard problems.

Boulderz Climbing Centre: Another great Toronto-area climbing facility with fun bouldering walls. Boulderz has two locations in metro area, maybe a sign of things to come with other gyms hinting at opening a new location.

Allez Up: One of Montreal’s top gyms with new-age lead walls and lots of bouldering space. They recently opened a bouldering-only area called Pop Up Bloc, which provides steep angles and great problems.
