The popular climbing event expects to draw hundreds of climbing enthusiasts from around the world to scale legendary Squamish routes, while also providing attendees with extracurricular activities to compliment the weekend.

In years past, Arc’teryx hosted the Squamish Mountain Festival during the month of July, a similar event yet more tuned to the cultural components of the climbing community, but this year decided to switch up the format to incorporate more educational elements to add more value to the attendee experience and improve the event overall.

Along with a strong lineup of climbing clinics, live music, keynote speakers, and adventure films, Arc’teryx has also partnered with the new Sea to Sky Gondola this year, making the rugged backcountry and vertical terrain surrounding Squamish more easily accessed via the new Sea to Sky Gondola.

On Friday evening July 10, two of the world’s leading alpinists, Raphael Slawinski and Marc-Andre Leclerc will speak about their latest adventures in the Himalayas and Patagonia. Following these two inspiring athletes, Vancouver’s indie soul band, The Boom Booms, will take the stage at 8 p.m. to continue rocking the vibe.

On Saturday evening July 11, female rock phenoms Vikki Weldon and Brette Harrington will share stories from their latest adventures of free soloing in Patagonia and new route developing in Morocco.

Two inspirational women that are sure to keep you on the edge of your seat, the duo will be followed by the duet of Jon and Roy, who are rapidly ascending the music world with their unique approach of acoustic rhythmic patterns. Jon and Roy take the stage at 8 p.m.

Wrapping up on Sunday afternoon, the Climbing Academy concludes with the sounds of Kane & Potvin at 5 p.m.

All of these post-clinic events will be held in expansive views and open air of the Sea to Sky Gondola summit and all of them are free for event pass holders.  Discounted gondola passes are also available for those not participating in climbing clinics but want to take in the music and wisdom of the keynote speakers.

“We are thrilled to feature such a strong lineup of climbing clinics, live music and keynote speakers for this year’s Climbing Academy,” said Justin Sweeny, North American Sports Marketing Coordinator.
