Canadian David Bouffard is North American Speed Champ

David Bouffard is the North American Speed Climbing Champion from last weekend’s Durango Ice Climbing World Championships. He finished fourth overall behind Russian Nikolai Kuzovlev in first, Valentyn Sypavin of Ukraine and Nikolay Shved of Russia. In second for the North American Championships behind Bouffard was Canadian Nathan Kutcher in second and Liam Foster of the U.S.A. in third.

Bouffard started climbing only three years ago and this is his first international competition. This was also the first time he ever tried speed climbing. For women’s speed, the top three North American spots went to Americans Kendra Stritch, Katie Bono and Angela Tomczik. Canadian Rebecca Lewis finished in fourth and eight overall.
