IFSC 2016 World Cup: Sean McColl Podiums in Briancon

The third Lead World Cup of the season is taking place in Briancon, France, and Sean McColl finished Qualifiers in first place and went into Finals in second behind Domen Skofic. McColl finished in third behind Roman Desgranges and repeat victor Skofic. Janja Gambret won her third straight Lead World Cup, followed by Jessica Pilz and Magdalena Rock. Other Canadians who competed include Becca Frangos, Annie Chouinard, Elan Jonas McRae, Matt Wellington and Nathan Smith. Watch the Finals below and follow results here.

This is McColl’s second medal in the past week, as he finished in first at the Villars World Cup. Briancon is a small commune in southeastern France near the France-Italy border. Since 2010, Briancon has gathered top Lead athletes from around the globe for competition climbing. This year, the highest city in France hosted its sixth IFSC Lead World Cup. The next Lead World Cup is in a month on Aug. 19 and 20. In the meantime, European Youth World Cup in France, Master Event in France, Asian Continental Championships in China, European Youth World Championships in Austria and the Bouldering World Cup in Germany.
