Injured Shauna Coxsey Won’t Compete in Paris

Shauna Coxsey announced she will not be competing in the IFSC World Championships in Paris in September. Coxsey suffered a shoulder injury during the final round of the IFSC Boulder World Cup in Munich last weekend that will require surgery. “I’m obviously gutted to be missing out on the World Championships, but realistically this is not the worst time to have an injury as I have achieved my goal of winning the overall World Cup title and I have now got the off season to recover so I can get back on form and back to training harder than ever to defend my title next year,” announced Coxsey.

Unfortunately I picked up a shoulder injury in the final round of the IFSC Bouldering World Cup at Munich so I have decided not to compete at the Climbing World Championships next month. I'm really lucky to have a great team around me and I will be working with them and my coach Mark Glennie to get healed up and back training as soon as possible. . I'm obviously gutted to be missing out on the World Championships, but realistically this is not the worst time to have an injury as I have achieved my goal in winning the overall World Cup title and I have now got the off season to recover so I can get back on form and back to training harder than ever to defend my title next year. . It is still early days so it is hard to say what the recovery time will be. I am having surgery on Monday. I'm incredibly thankfully to have the opportunity to work with a really great team and i feel lucky to have some down time ahead to ensure I give myself enough time to fully recover. . Thank you for the support!
