Jason Holowach and Alyssa Weber Win Alberta 2016 Provincial Lead Comp

The Alberta Climbing Association (ACA) Youth/Open Provincials took place the University of Alberta’s Wilson Centre on May 7 and 8. Climbers from all over Alberta took place on the comp that was held on the 15-metre High Wall. This was the second ACA sanctioned Difficulty Climb the Wilson Centre has hosted since opening in January 2015.

The staff, led by supervisor Lloyd King, put on a great event and everyone has complimented the route setting and efforts. “Creating a great experience for the climbers, their supporters and spectators is something we take great care in,” said King.

“Climbing is growing in popularity at a rapid pace and we want to make the Wilson Centre one of the premier climbing facilities in Canada. The opportunity to host an event the scale of this in being open just over a year and a half is exciting and we aim to impress further in the hopes of hosting National’s in 2017.”

After the event, the University of Alberta Climbing Centre Facebook read, “What an amazing weekend. Huge thank you to all of our organizers, route setters, belayers, volunteers, and all of the competitors who came out and showed us what you can do. Looking forward to seeing everyone at Nationals!” Open results below, for all results visit here.
