New #ColorTheCrag Fest this Fall at Horse Pens

The inaugural #ColorTheCrag climbing festival will take place from Oct. 20 to 22 this fall at Horse Pens 40 in Alabama. Below are statements found on the Color The Crag website found here.

What is the Color the Crag Climbing Festival? The Color the Crag Climbing Festival is an event to support climbing access and exposure to historically marginalized communities.

This core mission will increase the presence of people of color outside, encourage community and leadership, and provide positive representation of climbing and physical activity among populations of color.

Why Color the Crag? Our hope is that by gathering our many communities of color together we can address one of the many barriers to experiencing climbing, feeling isolated.

By hosting an event supporting diversity, we will be directly supporting and connecting climbers of color and those interested in climbing to one another.

We will build relationships, increase leadership, and begin the conversation of addressing other issues affecting our communities such as access, public health awareness, and environmental education and advocacy.
