Sonnie Trotter’s 2016 Canadian Slide Show Tour

Sonnie Trotter is one of North America’s leading climbers and he has announced a slide show tour that will visit eight Canadian towns and cities between June 6 and June 23. “I’ll be talking about the importance of respecting our crags, optimism, partnerships, as well as highlighting climbing trips to Germany, Tasmania and my new summer project here in the Canadian Rockies,” announced Trotter.

Over the past few years, Trotter has focused his energy on establishing hard multi-pitch routes in the Rockies, often in the alpine. In 2015, he made the first free ascent of Blue Jeans Direct, the first 5.14 on Yamnuska. But that hasn’t stopped him from pushing the standards on difficult single-pitch gear routes, which he became well known for after his send of Cobra Crack in Squamish. In the winter of 2016, he made the first free ascent of the Ewbank Route on the Totem Pole in Tasmania in one 70-metre 5.13+ pitch. Watch Trotter on the first ascent of The Path 5.14R at the Back of the Lake and visit his website here for dates and locations of his tour.
