Post C3 Series bouldering competitions
on: November 16, 2007, 03:44

The Calgary Climbing Centre is proud to present our 2007/2008 C3 Series.

We will have 3 bouldering competitions over this winter.

Event dates are November 23, January 18 andApril 4.

These are friday nights- info and climbing at 7pm.

These bouldering competitions will be fun and friendly comps for climbers of all abilities. We’ve got male and female categories for beginners, experienced, open and masters (35+).

We’re going to have 50 new problems set all over the gym, live DJs and lots of great prizes generously donated by Campers Village, Prana, MEC, Flashed Climbing, Rhope.com(Slacklining), Petzl and Rock Gear Distribution.

This year we’ve got an extra incentive for the open category.  The overall winner of the 3 competitions will receive the custom made C3 Series Championship Belt.  The winner’s name will be engraved after the last comp and you get to keep it until next year. Refer to poster to see what i’m talking about.

Also, while we’re waiting for results, we will have a slacklining competition to keep everyone entertained.  Come and show off your slacker skills.

Competition Fee is +gst if you pre-register(payment required) or +gst if you register the day before or day of the each competition.

You can register by phone or at the front desk (chinook location)

Hope to see you there

Edit:
Results have been posted on our website here:

Hi Dan,

Tour de Bloc competitions are great, but they have a lot of work associated with them.  With 6 competitions on our schedule (3 bouldering and 3 junior TBA), we decided to focus on our own series and have great fun comps this year.

Sorry to dissapoint you, but we chose not to host a TDB this year….. but i’m sure we will again in the future.

I know you won’t get any points or any money, but we hope to inspire you and others to paricipate in our competitions with our very own one-of-a-kind Championship Belts.

Hope that helps, if you or anybody would like to discuss my decision in further detail, feel free to give me a call.

Simon

Why is the last comp not a Tour de Bloc competition like it has been every year???

Knut,

Will you be implementing your finals strategy from the kelowna TDB? If so i think all the other masters should watch out. And even if Dan isn’t in your category,….i think he should watch out.

Sincerely,

Nate

It’s OK Dan, you can come down - I’m in Masters now so you don’t have to worry about me beating you.

Dan… come to calgary, strap on the sticky rubber boots, squeeze some grips, listen to some tunes, heckle your friends, drink some beer, sleep in K’s basement.

good times.

besides, your attendance is the only factor that will bring me out of semi-retirement.

Unfortunately I am working and will not be able to attend the competition this weekend.  There is a good contingent of Edmontonians coming down though.  Good luck to all.

THAT’S how us ‘older’ guys can even the playing field… all competitors must have 3 pints in the hour before ISO.  we’ve got WAY more experience in that arena!!
