I’m from Northern Ontario, but I didn’t start climbing until I moved away.  On trips back east I remember seeing a lot of undeveloped granite crags (Canadian Shield stuff) and thought that if I had the time I’d haul a rack along and do some exploring.  There’s a lot of developed climbing around Thunder Bay (not much help if you’re in Timmins).

I think you’re best bet might be to contact the North of Superior Climbing Company.  I’ve never had any contact with them, but they seem committed to Northern Ontario climbing.  Note the last question on their faq page:

Anyway, good luck and I’d like to hear back about what you get yourself into.

Being the geologis, shouldn’t you be telling the rest of us about the new cliffs you have found and are in need of an accomplice to do all the new routes?

You’d get more replies.

Hey.. there is stuff in the timmins area but you would have to do some driving for sure. I’m from the area and still have a couple of bros in the area who would love to show you around. Give me a shout and i could definitely point you in the right direction
