Well it looks like I’m in a bit of a sticky spot.  I kind of forgot that I had to set the MEC Tour De Bloc Bouldering Nationals the same weekend we were supposed to be setting the National Aid Climbing Championships.  You see I just wrote set Nationals in my day planner so I guess I double booked and…well here we are.  Fear not though my friends in the aid world, we will figure this one out.  I’ve decided to start accepting resumes from aspiring head setters and I will name my successor after choosing.
Candidates can post their resumes here for all to see.  Please include setting experience, epics survived, your favorite Pink Floyd album(s, plus a short cover letter.
Man, David Bowie is going to be pissed, we’ve been looking for a project to work on together since we filmed Labrinth, and I thought this was it.  Plus I said he could stay at my place.  Also anyone who would be willing to put up David Bowie for a week or so can post here.  Be forewarned though,he never actually sleeps…he just sits there humming quietly.

Hi Jody,

Doug here,

I see that you have clean aid and classic aid categories.  Any chance that you will have a dirty aid category?  I think that given my age, 48 years, any extended time spent on the big wall during this comp could lead to dirty aid.

Also, will there be any drug testing prior to, during and after the comp?  My guess is that anyone under age 30 should be tested for HGH and a wide array of steroids.  Anyone over age 40 should be tested for THC.

Sincerely,

Doug P.J.

Doug,
Next year I will look into a Dirty Masters category but for now, we’re going to just see how it goes.  As far as drug testing goes…lets just say I don’t want to comprimise the event with scandal in its first year.  Come to think of it I’m n ot sure how more muscle mass would help you ease gently onto a manky bathook placement.

Toivo,
Mr.Bowie has been informed of your invitation and will be in touch shortly.

the thimble story was indeed classic. also the search for bouldering in florida (you’ve got to admire the pure force of desperation) . i learned quite a lot from that book- for instance, on the use of search parties for new developments. sherman offered cash rewards to local kids for climbable rocks. i’ve applied his strategy to the geography department members across the hallway, who are more knowledgeable about rocks than your average neighbourhood kid, but also more expensive to bribe. unions eh?

thanks again for the lender

talk to you soon
