Mike, I WOULD have attended, however my dedication to coaching is compelte, and I could not BEAR the thought of not being there for a practice with the team.

I would point to Mike’s performance as evidence of my devotion to coaching, although him being a Weldon probably helps…

PS - That Parton kid turned out OK after all! Nice work Si!.

BTW - staying in Calgary to watch flames girls flash you on 17th is not an excuse for not attending.

Go flames… sigh.

For me the big turn off was the two day event.  I’m finding it hard enough to stay motivated on plastic for one day let alone two when it’s 15C and sunny out.  From what I understand it ended up being a one day event anyway?

I’ll be at Nationals for sure though.  I’m hoping gravity will be less for me that day so I can give Terry a run for his money.

This past weekend at the tour de bloc regionals in Richmond there was only one competitor from Calgary (Mike Weldon)!! At the same competition there was 12 competitors from Edmonton (3 female, 9 male). What’s going on?? I’ve been a little out of touch lately but I’ve been watching results this year and I know Edmonton has been absolutely dominating over Calgary in the local events. Are the Calgary people now afraid to travel and compete, or are they saving energy for the nationals in May?

How can it be that one of the best bouldering gyms in the country (CCC) had only one competitor at the Western Regionals?

Thanks to all the people from Edmonton that made the trip and um… no thanks I guess to the Calgary folks.

Results are online at hangoutclimbing.com.

While this post was a jab at friends in Calgary I am also genuinely interested in reasons for the lack of participation.

Haha, good call Mike!  But honestly, I even climb with Terry and I’m a little scared, so Calgary has a good reason to shy away from the TDB, especially after his domination in the C3 competitions.  Awwww Yeeeaaah, 780!

PS - Hope all the Calgrites come up for Nationals, there shouldn’t be any snow on the highways so can’t use that excuse!

(Yes I know some of you have already made reservations at the Chateau and I’m not talking about you guys)
