In the past, there has been no parking fee due in part to the close association of the climbing community and their volunteer efforts in these parks.  We are unaware of any change to this, and are in very close contact with BC Parks on a weekly basis, so this seems odd.  I believe the site is a third party site; perhaps it is an error.  We will follow up and post updates on squamishaccess.ca if there is a change that is being considered.

Cheers.

I think I’ll have to pay up.

Annual passes are available.

What I would hate to see is some climber led not-guuna-pay protest, like that embarrassing display that occurred in Oregon in the late 90’s.

Always looking for new people to climb with. Check out my profile on rockclimbing.com User name. Slavetogravity. Peace.

I’ll do exactly what I do at all the other parks that have pay parking… park without paying. All that will happen is that you will get a yellow slip of paper warning you to pay before you leave.
This yellow slip of paper is easily recycled along with all your other recyclable paper products. No panhandling, window washing or dumpster diving required. I have NEVER been ticketed or towed at any BC park using this simple method.

Hey Stoned Mason.

Put down your bong and go panhandle for an hour. I’m sure you can find some way to come up with the parking fee.

If panhadling is beneath you, how bout returning empty beer bottles or checking pay phones for change.

If you’re still short on cash, you may want to consider some radical options - like getting a job.

Anyone have any other suggestions for how stoned mason can make to cover the parking fee?

Also in error on the website is the statement that the Chief is the second-largest monolith in the world.  This patently false statement seems to crop up everywhere.  there are FAR larger monoliths all over the world.  The Chief is pretty small by global standards, actually.

wooo.. the harshness! Maiden America keep your three bucks(what is that .75 cents these days?).

But seriously,if the money goes straight back I MEAN directly back to the Chief I’m all for it. If it is to pay for the hwy? Forget it!! That hwy is built to save lives, you can’t but a price on that - unless of course it is purely being built for the Olympics.

Anyway at the rate I go, I’ll be either walking or b) taking my bike. I’m a little tired of having to pay every time I go cragging either at Murrin or Shannon falls. That was always the best part!! You could just park for five minutes jump out and watch the falls or crag to Papoose, boulder, whatever , and not worry about breaking change nor risking parking fines. Why not put a toll on the backside trail while you are at it. Heck, put one on memorial ledge too! Or sell wrist bands that get you into all your favorite ‘public’ parks’…..
