NO I pay, like everyone else. I put three Canadian tire dollars in and go climbing. (which I found in my neighbors waste bin)

Climb the mountains and get their good tidings. Nature’s peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees. The winds will blow their own freshness into you, and the storms their energy, while cares will drop away from you like the leaves of Autumn.”

Nobody throws out Canadian Tire money! You’re obviously lying.

They should put the money towards bolting all the classic cracks! Just think how fun it would be to climb the Chief with nothing but a rack of draws.

you can - and it’s a scary 5.10 callled Stairway to Heaven. You’ll love the 2p off bellygood! My favs. were the ‘bullet head’, and the black dyke exit pitch.

You know what, there’s no easy answer to this. One can make an argument that funds are needed to protect and preserve access, but at the same time, we see a lack of priorities often in government and misappriation of funds. It would initially smell like a tourist cash grab more than anything else, and I would have to state cynically that if they want to rape the landscape like they have been doing, spend our taxdollars to do it, and then charge us to park there, it’s not being cheap to object. That’s ridiculous. Gas is already .30 a litre, so is like going from freakin Cambie to Lion’s Gate. But it comes down to the whole pay to play idea, and the continued erosion of our sense of adventure. People are quickly being herded into approved playgrounds with parking access and user fees.

Sure, we can all afford . It would be nice to think the wasn’t wasted or would go to some form of preservation. Then again, we could also think the 2010 Olympics isn’t some gigantic waste of money and displaced priorities in a city which has a massive crack addict (the cocaine kind, not the Exasperator kind) and homeless problem. When I see how they have marred the landscape of the Sea to Sky, it makes me wonder whether we can trust government with our money at all. But alas, what do I know, I’m just another Eastern immigrant. It must be much worse for the climbers who grew up in a more peaceful and serene era before the Chief became pimped out in the name of progress.

You cant clean up the homeless problem for free, you cant get money for free so thats where the Olympics come in. Spend money on olympics to hopefully make more money to hopefully be spent on the right things.

The crack problem is not as big as one may think. Homeless people is a real problem. And the Olympics are doing nothing to help that.

The highway however is just plain silly, we have a rail system but that apparently only works in Europe and for some reason only works in summer.

It only works because they have populations everywhere.

ahh they needed somewhere for those pulp mill workers to go and we dont have any rail line builders in this country so its good ol fashion blow up the rock and higher some locals..wonder what they will do by 2010..maybe build some new resorts like Garaibaldi at Squamish

This is not true at all. Kiweit does not have many of the off the pulp mill workers. Not very many at all. Again that is a problem of a different matter.

Lets say they build Garabaldi on the Mountain. That would be great.
It would draw people of like minded. And it would put a stop to the damage that is going on right NOW at Garabaldi.

Have you ever been to the old ski lodge. Before you cut down what would help you should go on up and see what they have done.(sled club) Maybe people would use the train. Which hurts the environment twice as much as cars but lets do that anyhow. It looks better that way. The train idea works for the environment like BIO fuel does. Not at all.

Cheers
