It rained once a day for 20-60 min but the place is so overhung that you can always climb.  Kati Guzman’s lodge is at the Entrada.  I can’t remember its name but it’s 17,000 P$ a night and you can do your own cooking.

Food costs as much as you want.  There is the usual in Suesca proper and Rica Pizza makes Godly meat dishes for -8.  There is basic food shopping at the Entrada and more up the road in Suesca proper.

You can get a bus to the Entrada from Terminal del Norte in Bogota, takes 1 hour is about .50 US.  CLimbing partners are easy to find weekends, during the week also possible.  For onlne info and partners , there is a facebook group called Roca Solida (also a gym in bogota).  Also the guidebook you can buy in the Gran Pared gym in bogota, on like 90th and 7th if memory serves.

Lots of colombian climbers, because the sport is soo expensive, are rich people who know english.  if you go, take all the old gear you have– you will find people who want it.

Here’s some pics from cragging in Suesca, Colombia.  Between the cacti, old man’s beard, Virgin statues, farm animals, Army doing rescue courses and the ever-present scent of chronic, there is some amazing climbing there (~450 routes from 5.5 to 5.14).  And you can walk 10 minutes back to town and have a coffee between burns!

Nice pics!  Thanks for posting the link.  It looks drier than I would have thought.  Was it relatively cheap to travel / stay / eat there?

Slight correction to Pablo– The vast majority of routes in Suesca are single pitch.  The longer routes have really crappy final pitches (it’s like Indian Creek– the tops are all composite, dirt, loose etc).  And there are lots of 12+ and 13 routes, and a # of unsent projects that will clock in at 5.13+ or 5.14.

Colombia is a great place to climb, be prepared to climb trad or routes half trad half sport.

In Suesca they are lots of multi pitch routes from 5.8 to 5.12.

If someone have any questions about colombia or Suesca please let me know

Just added a few more of bouldering in the jungle.  If you went Dec-Feb and had a machete and a crowbar, you could find several thousand problems on perfect granite.  And some really fun stuff in the ocean.

Suesca is a great place. The climber hostel we stayed at was stunning and affordable.  The valley an hour walk out of town offers great sport routes and a perfect setting.

The best sport climbing area in Colombia is in La Mojarra.  It’s situated an hour south of Bucaramanga and has about 80 routes from 5.9 to 5.14 on perfect fine grained red sandstone.  A climber hostel recently opened there.  The place and the local crew are amazing.

Colombians and Colombia kick ass!

yea, Colombians are amazing.  Most friendly Latin Americans I have ever met (except for the Brazilians).  Huge partiers, very sincere, very courteous, very funny.  Too bad there is sooo much bad political sh*t in their country.
