In case you haven’t seen the post on 8a, two younger people died in the red river gorge and it appears that an old anchor (and webbing) are to blame.

Please keep opinions regarding these two people to yourself but be reminded that climbing is dangerous and we should all try to make the sport as safe as possible for ourselves and others.

Just wondering what happened?

Accidents are going to become more common place as people have for years been lowered off instead of pulling the rope up and rapping off. This wear and tear does have an impact. So many people have never been truly taught how to do anchors and have been ill advised by others that also never were taught the proper ways.

I can never understand why people even rope team members do not rap off stations instead of being lowered.

LAZY

Cheers
