Hey there Tim,

I have been looking around as well.  There are a few places that you can climb in the area:
Sudbury:

North Bay:
We were out last night looking for Idol Verte which is outside of Powassan.  I should be checking out the Nordic Ski club tonight.  It is documented that there is a pretty big climb there.  Hopefully this weekend I will be checking out Restoule Park to see what they have there.

If you pick up the Ice Guide to Southern Ontario, there is tons of information in there.  You in the North Bay area?

there is decent looking ice formed above high lake, accessible by skis off the blue trail at north bay nordic. i’m no ice climber, but there is a mix of low angle stuff and short frozen waterfalls there, with lots of ice from these freeze thaw cycles. i also saw people ice climbing a few weeks ago on northshore road, just past the ski club.

there is no climbing club in town- just a few woodies at homes here and there. the hunt for a concentration of boulders or sport climbs continues. so far it’s erratics here and there and hogsbacks off the highway outside of south river. there has to be more rock here to be found….
