We had some technical difficulties with the live stream. We were using Mogulus which has a new rule and is now limiting the numbers of viewers until approval of the channel (which doesn’t seem to happen on weekends). So, we apologize if you couldn’t watch the feed today. We will use a private service tomorrow and it should work much better.

I watched parts of this tonight, and it was amazing to be able to watch this great comp live via webcast! The feed crapped out on me a few times, so there is room for improvement, but despite that, I’m very impressed with what you guys put together. The coverage was very professional. I felt like I was watching on TSN!

All right, it’s tuesday morning, went to bed at 4pm yesterday and slept until 6am this morning. If that is not a testament to how fun this weekend was than i have nothing else to say.

The problems were SICK, the event was organized well (props to Allez Up!!), The features WTF!!! Those Delire shapes are RAD, Lets get more of those happenning! And Jody you’ll be happy to hear that i look like a burn victim after problem 5. Showering is very painful.  =)

Many thanks to everyone involved, Luigi i have never been so drunk in all my life! Thanks you!! On that note if anyone wants to press charges after this weekend i would prefer to settle out of court.

Way to smash it guys! Looking forward to seeing the East come West next year!

Actually, the rules weren’t followed.

Section 5.1.10 from the CEC rules states:

Each boulder shall have a pre-designated starting position from which all attempts shall start. It shall consist of at least fixed positions for the two hands, and may include fixed and marked positions for either one or both feet. The starting position shall be clearly marked, and the marking shall be the same for all boulders.  The colour used shall be different from those used to mark the bonus holds, and demarcations in accordance with Article 3.2.2.  At the discretion of the Chief Routesetter the pre-designated starting holds may be labeled left and right.

You will note that each problem

shall consist of at least fixed positions for the two hands

and this was not the case with the fourth final problem which effectively makes it null and void.  This rule was set to prevent confusion over where to start, exactly the type of situation that happened at Nationals this year.  Unfortunately this was not realized until after the competition and past the appeal deadline, whether it would have made a difference I don’t know.  But if the rules were followed there may well have been a different champion.

Danimal,
Thanks for the extensive knowledge of the rules. enlightening for real. it is funny how the foot jump start is a common setting format to make things more exciting. i guess not any more.
i take back what i said.
