it’s not *supposed* to be 10 men and 10 women - the rules technically only allow 3 men and 3 women from each country. it is possible to get permission for more and, thus, in theory there could be 10 of each. that said, i think 8 canadians is actually a pretty good showing, though i agree it would have been nice to have more women there. (in fact, i think there were 2 additional women registered so there must have been injuries or extenuating circumstances that prevented them from going). at the same time, i understand why there weren’t more than that. vail may be so close compared to a european destination but it’s still a significant financial (athletes have to fund the entire trip themselves) and time commitment. let’s not forget that the majority of our athletes have full-time jobs, or are full-time students and the like.
