Post Red River Gorge Climbing Videos
on: August 4, 2010, 18:29

Since a recent trip to the Red River Gorge back in May I have been hard at work using my free time to edit all the footage i brought back. Below are the links to those videos and if you have any feedback feel free to spill your guts. Feedback has been helpful for me since I am new to video. I have more videos in the works so check back on my vimeo page in about a week.

Roadside Crag: http://www.vimeo.com/13871336
Gray’s Branch: http://www.vimeo.com/13527817
The Zoo: http://www.vimeo.com/13209205

Not related but my Yosemite video: http://www.vimeo.com/11314766

If you can please help me raise money for my next project and spread the word. Thank You!

I think the videos are very well done.  Visually they are appealing with interesting angles and good editing.  My only critique would depend on what you are trying to achieve with the videos.  If they are meant to be shown to the general population to give a glimpse into what climbing is like I think they are great.  If they are meant for a climber I find the editing slightly frustrating.  I want to see a full sequence without the camera cutting to multiple angles, or jumping moves.  I’d rather the focus be on the moves and the effort of the climbers if possible.  Granted I don’t want to see a 10 minute shake out but full cruxes are always nice.  But if these are the first videos you have done I think you have done a very good job.  Looking forward to more.

Thanks silver! I will definitely take your thoughts with me to Spain for the next project. It will be the first time shooting anything with more than one person (myself) on a camera. This will for sure make setting up a shot properly a lot easier. It has been hard trying to put together the funds for this project so please throw us some donations here. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/truettner/project-psicobloc-a-travel-climbing-film-about-dee
