The CEC is offering a Judges Course on April 15, in conjunction with the 2011 Canadian Bouldering Championships in Burlington at Climber’s Rock from April 16-17, 2011.

Who is Eligible?
All interested people who have a basic knowledge of climbing and climbing competitions.

Course Description
Part 1: 6:30 – 8:00pm
Competition Regulations, including basic scoring procedures
*Mandatory for all Problem Judges
Part 2: 8:00-9:30pm
*For those who wish to achieve Local or Regional level JP certification (must also
attend Part 1)
Overview of Competition Climbing in Canada
Competition Organization
Disciplinary Procedures during Competitions
Competition Appeals Procedure
There will be a written examination following the course. Registrants are expected to attend
both days of the competition to judge and assist with JP duties under supervision.
Debriefing will occur at the end of each day to discuss problems and concerns.

Certification?
You will receive Local or Regional level Jury President (JP) certification, depending on previous
experience. You must attend Part 1 and Part 2 to obtain JP certification.

Cost?
There is no cost for the course. It is being presented by the CEC in the interest of furthering the
development of competition climbing in Canada. Thank you to the TDB for assisting with sponsorship
for this course.

Send a brief outline of your climbing/judging experience to Laurie Weldon: laweldon@shaw.ca
Indicate if you wish to obtain Jury President Local and/or Regional certification.

How should I prepare?
It would be beneficial to have read the CEC Rules, part 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 8 and Exhibit 1, Section 2.
For those only taking Part 1, please read CEC Rules part 3, 5 and Exhibit 1, Section 2.
