Has anybody noticed that in a gym they ask you to use your ATC wrong and it could lead to a fall?

This is happening I think from the use of a mechanized belay device. The ATC is not meant to be in front of the belayer it should have the curl to the back.

Holding in front will decrease friction and make it harder to use.
