15 New Routes Added to Murrin Park at New Crag

Chris Small has uploaded new route information to Quickdraw Publications. He and others have recently completed a new crag at Murrin Park called Rainbows and Unicorns. In citing the reason for the name, he wrote on SquamishClimbing.com, “The name for this cliff originates from Marc Andre Leclerc’s hilarious assessment of the current Squamish climbing scene: ‘[These] days Squamish is all about climbs for everyone and sunshine and lollipops and flowers and rainbows and families and vegan puppies.'” There are 15 new routes that range from 5.8 to 5.12 and have both straightforward climbing to complicated gear-placement lines. Climbers Access Society of B.C. provided much of the hardware, to learn more about the important access group see here.

“This crag took a tremendous amount of work, about 400 hrs over two years to build,” wrote Small. “I would like to thank Chris Little for his scaling and trundling expertise, Jenn Plotnikoff for trail building assistance, CASBC for a good chunk of route hardware, Aaron Cornes and Todd Gerhart for belay slaving, Karen Jensen for helping with photos and finding the base materials and art talent for completing signs and Lily (age five) for use of her artwork on signs.” For all of the route and access info see here.
