Afghan Female Climbing Team Climb New Peak

A group of 12 women completed a 17-day adventure that included three summits.

Them women, aged 15 to 22, climbed three peaks over 4,800 metres in the Panjshir Province in the Hindu Kush. They are the first group of Afghan women to complete such a feat and hope to motivate future generations.

They had planned to climb Mount Noshaq, the countries highest peaks at 7,492 metres. Security issues and war prevented their entrance to the valley and they had to focus on a different route.

One of their route took them to the top of an unclimbed peak they called Daughters of the Afghan Lion.
