Alex Megos Continues 2017 Sends with New 5.15

Alex Megos has made the first ascent of Clash of the Titans 5.15a at Gotterwandl in Tirol, Austria.

Megos said on social media, “Happy that I got in some climbing yesterday at Götterwandl in Nassereith. And even more happy that the day ended with the FA of Clash of the Titans 9a+!”

On the climber’s site 8a.nu, Megos is reported noting, “I feel certain that this route is f9a+ [5.15a]. The route consists of two distinct sections, the first part is around f8b+ /f8c [5.14-] and leads to a poor rest that was enough for me to take a moment to shake out.

“This is then followed by the crux. The sequence involved around 10 moves of consistent font 8a+/V12 climbing. The moves are powerful and the holds are small. The crux finishes with a throw from an undercling to hit the top crimp and then there is easy climbing to the top.”

A few days ago, Megos made the first ascent of Riss Kant Direct 5.14b in the same area. Megos will continue his European road trip this week.
