Alex Megos Repeats Companion of Change 5.15 in Austria

Alex Megos has made the second ascent of Jakob Schubert’s Companion of Change, a techy 5.15a at Bergstation in Zillertal, Austria.

In 2016, Megos spent a week projecting a new route in Banff National Park before making the first ascent of Fight Club 5.15b, Canada’s first 5.15.

Companion of Change took Megos about three days in hot temperatures. After the send, Megos noted, “Jakob graded the route 9a/+ [5.14d/15a], for me I would say it is definitely 9a+ [5.15a] and a great one at that.”

Megos is currently on tour with photographer Liam Lonsdale on a project for Vertical Life.

There second stop on the trip is Brixen, Italy, where they have been sampling steep Dolomite lines.
