Beautiful New Route on Mount Rugged

New 700-metre, moderate route on Vancouver Island.

Henrik Hinkkala and  Hunter Lee climbed a new route on the North West face of Mount Rugged, the Lee/Hinkkala, IV, WI3, 700 m. The conditions were reportedly excellent.

Earlier in the year, a new route was climbed on the Island’s Big Den, see here.

From Hunter Lee, "We started climbing at 7:30 in the morning, the first 45 minutes lead by light from our headlamps, summited at 2:30 and back at camp at 6:00, a 12-hour round trip. And yup, the sunset was awesome!" Photo Hunter Lee
