New V10 is Hardest Problem at B.C.’s Poisen River Sector

The Poisen River Sector is a picturesque and remote location in B.C.’s Slocan Valley. The boulders are gneiss and have amazing little edges and pockets. “Located within spitting distance of the Slocan River in a very peaceful setting,” said local boulderer Allen Rollin who you can follow on Instagram here. There are 11 routes listed in the online guide to the area here. One of the problems in the list is “Sheep Look Up V9?” which was recently sent by Marcus Norman of Calgary at V10.

Norman called the problem The Right Side of Forty and wrote the following on Sendage.com, “This took me far too many tries over several trips to Nelson. Formerly known in Allen’s miniguide as Sheep Look Up project – attacks the steep prow to the right of Shockwave Runner. Start on a low pinch with left hand and slopey rail/pinch with the right. Thanks to Stephane G for projecting this with me and providing the psych and the Pepsi. Stoked!” Earlier this spring, Norman made the first ascent of Lord of the Rungs 5.13b in Heart Creek in the Rockies.
