Climbers Summit Manaslu and Cho Oyu in Autumn 2016

The first summits in the Himalayan fall season went down this week on two eight-thousanders. Nearly 70 teams and 500 members are on expeditions to different peaks. Mingma Sherpa reported that more than 60 climbers have reached the summit of Manaslu, the world’s eighth highest mountain, with more on the way. There are 18 teams and over 150 climbers and and support on the big peak.

On Cho Oyu, at least 20 climbers have reached the top. Americans Adrian Ballinger and Emily Harrington are attempting to climb Cho Oyu as fast as they can. German Billi Bierling is also planning on a fast ascent, which would be her fifth over 8,000 metres if successful.
