Climbing the Eiffel Tower: Climbers on Run and a Past Ascent

The iconic Eiffel Tower in Paris, France, is 312 metres tall and three people are on the run after attempting to climb it.

Three people were spotted climbing the Paris landmark on Sunday morning. Security guards called the police at 5:30 a.m., but the climbers escaped.

The climbers had large packs, which could have had BASE jumping gear or ropes. Due to recent security threats, the tower was closed as hundreds of people were lined up waiting to climb the tower’s stairs.

In 2005, a Norwegian BASE jumper died while attempting to jump off the tower.
