Isabelle Faus Sends New V13 in Rocky Mountain National Park

Isabelle Faus became the fifth female boulderer to send V14 with her 2015 send of Fred Nicole’s Amandla in Rocklands, which was also the first female ascent of the route. Previous to that, the Colorado climber had sent two V13s, including Daniel Woods’ Epochalypse and Nuthin but Sunshine by Dave Graham.

Fuas’ new V13 is called The Dark Daughter and it might be the hardest bouldering first ascent by a female ever. The route adds a hard traverse into Dave Graham’s Child of God. She started by sitting with her hands down and right on the lowest part of the seam and moved into hard crimps. Faus reported the traverse being much harder than Carefully by Hand, a nearby V12 she sent earlier.
