Jakob Kronberger is 16 and Bags Second New 5.14d

At only 16 year old, Jakob Kronberger has made his way to international headlines with his second first ascent of a 5.14d. The young Austrian made the first ascent of Die Rechte Hand last September. The climber’s site 8a.nu reported that Kronberger’s second new 5.14d, which took 10 days to send, is called Baumweson and is in Salzburger. “The route was shown to me by Klem Loskot in last November,” Kronberger told 8a.nu.

“Klem showed me his beta for the crux and I immediately fell in love with the Baumwesen. He said it would be totally fine for him if i made the first accent, so I went for it.” Follow Kronberger on Facebook here.
