Jon Cardwell’s Second Ascent of Shadow Boxing 5.14d

Jon Cardwell has climbed most of the hardest routes at Rifle and has now made the second ascent of Shadow Boxing 5.14d.

For nearly two decades, the Colorado crag has has been at the forefront of hard sport climbing in America. With over 35 routes graded 5.14, including two 5.14ds, it has some of the areas’s most sought after routes. Cardwell is one of the few people who have been able to keep up with the rapid production of routes, managing to climb just about everything.

Cardwell recently returned from France as strong as ever. He onsighted Roadside Prophet 5.14a and flashed Uncertainty Principle and Wake Flocka 5.14b. He also sent Living in Fear 5.13c, Fools Gold 5.14a, Slice of LIfe 5.14a, Class Act 5.14a, Planet X 5.14b and Moment Musical 5.14a.

His biggest send was that of Shadow Boxing 5.14d. The route was first bolted by Nico Favresse and sent by Jon Siegrist in 2011. Watch Caldwell’s send of the 45-metre route in the clip below and follow him on Instagram here.
