Touring the popular sport climbing destinations of Europe, Hetyei set her sights on difficult 5.14 climbs. A few weeks ago, she became the second Canadian woman to send Ixeia 5.14a in Rodellar, which Marieta Akalski sent in 2014.

This past week, Hetyei send Trous Dans L’air 5.14a in Kalymnos. When asked if she had any other projects for this trip, she said, “No other projects as difficult as that one and I’m back to Vancouver and indoor training in a week.”

Hetyei was the second Canadian woman to climb 5.14 and was the first to send 5.14b.

“Hetyei is a climbing fanatic,” said the owner of Sendage.com Jamie Chong. “She is outwardly passionate about climbing and it only takes a few minutes of talking to her to realize that.

“She’s the type of climber that will spend days (weeks, months) figuring out the best way to do every move.”
