Lauren Watson Sends Just Can’t Do It, Her First 5.13

Thanks to Lauren Watson, Squamish has a climbing gym with ropes. She called the space Ground Up and it has become a hub of climbing activity on Canada’s West Coast. Long before that, she was an intern with us here at Gripped. Now, she can add 5.13 climber to her resume. Watson recently reported on Sendage.com that she ticked Just Can’t Do It, her first 5.13. “Took way too long considering how close I was last year, but first 5.13. Definitely the most defined mental battle I’ve ever had on a route.”

The 25-metre route is located on the Forgotten Wall in Cheakamus and was first climbed nearly 15 years ago. It has balancey and tricky sequences on positive crimps. Watch a send by a climber in 2013 below.
