Legendary French mountaineer Maurice Herzog has passed away at the age of 93. Herzog, along with his climbing partner Louis Lachenal, will be remembered for being the first climbers to summit an 8,000-metre peak. The pair had climbed the 8,091-metre Annapurna in 1950. Herzog wrote about this accomplishment in his book Annapurna which went on to sell 11 million copies and has become the most popular climbing book ever published.
