Miranda Oakley Makes History with The Nose Solo in a Day

Chantel Astorga attempted to become the first female climber to solo The Nose in a day in 2014 and finished in just over 24 hours. In 2015, Miranda Oakley went for the record and finished in over 26 hours. This summer, Oakley climbed The Nose in 21 hours and 50 minutes. The strong Yosemite climbing guide has onsighted 5.13s and linked Half Dome and El Cap in a day as part of a team. She has climbed new rotues in South American and California.

In 2015, she received the Julia Culberson Education Grant and in an interview with the Adventure Journal, said, “I gradually turned from Yosemite student to Yosemite professor.
