Mountain Biker Passes Free Soloist and Wingsuiter on Ride Down the Squamish Apron

Wild new videos show the action from all three perspectives—biker, climber, and flyer

Mountain biker Rémy Métailler, climber and skier Nick McNutt, and wingsuit BASE jumper Braden Dean have pulled off quite the feat in Squamish. In a perfectly timed stunt, Métailler harrowingly rides down the south side of the Stawamus Chief Apron, cruising by McNutt soloing up the sea of granite slab near the popular route Slab Alley 5.8. Shortly after biker and climber pass, Dean soars overhead in his wingsuit at hair-raising speed. You can watch footage from all three athlete perspectives below.

Originally from France, Métailler moved to Whistler, BC in 2013. He won the Taxco 2017 and Puerto Vallarta 2018 Urban Downhill Races and he’s been invited to Red Bull Rampage multiple times. In 2022, he rode some seriously outrageous lines down the Chief and Malamute. Climbers will recognize these Malamute views:

Métailler is not the only mountain biker to ride down the Apron in 2022. Check out this wild video of Ollie Lowthorpe from earlier this year:
