New 18-Pitch 5.9R in Red Rock is Dream of Wild Cheeseburgers

Sam Boyce and Kyle Willis climbed a new 18-pitch 5.9+ at Red Rock this September. They called their new route Dream of Wild Cheeseburgers and it climbs the Aeolian Wall on Mount Wilson. The committing route climbs an obvious feature up the big wall and has a number of wide pitches with moss-covered red rock.

The tall crack system is next to the popular Inti Watana, a popular 12-pitch 5.10c. The pitch-11 description is a good summary for the route: “Another rope stretcher. Head up the squeeze chimney, a little runout but pretty secure. Chimney out and around a chockstone (a horizontal directional keeps the rope away from it) and continue up the corner past a short off-width. An easy flaring chimney moves lead you up to one final roof. Belay at some giant boulders and a ledge.” Visit here for a route description and photos.
