New Big Route on Wild Tall Storey Wall

Paul Taylor and Paul Gardner have completed their new route in Echo Canyon in the Rockies.

The five-pitch 5.11c is on the far left side of the Tall Storey Wall in Echo Canyon on Grotto Mountain above Canmore.

The varied route’s pitches are all less than 30 metres and the modern-day approach to route setting ensures there are protection bolts where they need to be.

The first ascentionists recommend 13 draws with a few extendable and a single rope. The route starts with two 5.11a pitches and has a moderate 5.10b pitch before the 20-metre crux 5.11c and final 5.10a.

The route is the highest multi-pitch up the Tall Storey wall and gets late afternoon and evening sun. Perfect for post-dinner laps.
