New Nova Scotia 5.12 by Shawn Smith at Musquodoboit Watershed

Shawn Smith bolted two lines on the Main Face at Musquodoboit Watershed in Nova Scotia this summer. The first route was Sleepwalking, which Ben Smith sent after a few tries at 5.12a/b. The second route, which Shawn just sent, is Plastic Thugs 5.12b. After his send, he wrote on Sendage.com, “What a trip! This climb was in my head so hardcore. The last three or four sessions before the send were essentially backwards progression.

“After a two-week break I smashed it and chalked up on the crux hold that I could barely hold onto before… Big thanks to Ben and Meghan for countless belays and for enduring the mental deconstruction of a weak minded fool.” The Musquodoboit Watershed is near Dartmouth and has over 100 routes up to 25 metres.
