Pirmin Bertle Sends South America’s First 5.14d

Pirmin Bertle has climbed South America’s first 5.14d. The Patagonia route is called Azul es el cielo de los ciegos, which means ‘Blue is the sky of the blind.’ It took Bertle more than 30 attempts before he sent the hard route in Piedra Parada in Argentina. Piedra Parada means “standing rock” and is described as a mix of Smith Rock, Owens River Gorge, El Potrero Chico and the canyons of Utah. The climbing is 10 minutes from the campground and the canyon is long with 200-metre walls. Read more about the send here.
