Stefano Ghisolfi is Third to Send Jungle Boogie 5.15a

Stefano Ghisolfi announced online that he made the third ascent of Jungle Boogie 5.15a. “After 10 days, finally I clipped the anchor of Jungle Boogie.” Ghisolfi wrote. “This is one of my hardest route so far, the hardest 9a+ [5.15a] I ever tried and climbed… I’m really happy to be on this list with two of the strongest climbers in the world.” The route was first climbed by Adam Ondra and repeated by Sachi Amma. Jungle Boogie was first climbed by 19-year-old Ondra in 2012, but first attempted by Sylvain Millet and Enzo Oddo. The route is on the Realization wall at Ceuse, France. Characterized as a power-endurance route with sequences of difficult crimps. Ondra described it as, “The first half of Jungle Boogie requires long reaches on good holds up to the second bolt, then 20 moves of big moves on tiny crimps without any rests. The second half climbs an easy vertical wall no harder than 5.12c.

“Your fingers are always in the crimping position, and your forearms get sore very fast without any warning. You must climb Jungle Boogie with full commitment from the ground.”
