Qualifiers and Semis

The Rockies Rampage/Alberta’s Provincial Climbing Championships had a strong field of competitors turn up for the event. All of the usual Alberta senders, including a few climbers from Saskatchewan and B.C.

After a great competition on Saturday, the results are in at the end of the semis. For women, Becca Frangos climbed herself into a tie for first with Alison Vest. For the men, there’s a three-way tie for first: Jason Holowach, Andrew Funk and Scott Eveleigh.

Finals

On Sunday at 10 a.m., finals kicked off at Elevation Place. After a few hours of exciting climbing, the winners took the podiums. The awards were presented by Town of Canmore Mayor Borrowman and the Alberta Climbing Association officials.

Scott McKay and Brian Spear helped put on a great show at Elevation Place, which couldn’t have happened without the route setters, belayers, judges, ISO team, Pete Woods the MC, and parents.

For the men, Jason Holowach just beat out Jesse Taplin for first place while Scott Eveleigh rounded things off in third. The always strong Andrew Funk finished in fourth.

For the women, Alison Vest and Becca Frangos finished in first and second and Alyssa Webber took third place.
