Warm Dolomite Weather Leads to Big Winter Link

Simon Gietl and Vittorio Messini made an impressive winter link of The Comici/Dimai on Cima Grande in one hour and 45 minutes, the Cassin route up Cima Ovest in two hours and 45 minutes and the Innerkofler route up Cima Piccola in one hour and 15 minutes. In 2014, Ueli Steck and Michi Wohlleben opened the winter linkup in just over 15 hours.

Gietl and Messini simul-climbed the three routs with only 30 metres of rope between them and often only a few pieces of gear. They linked the three big routes in only five hours and 45 minutes. “Once again we rode our e-bikes up to the small chapel below Cima Piccola,” said Messini wrote on PlanetMountain.com. “We quickly marched to the base of Cima Piccola, where we stashed our rucksacks before continuing to the base of the Comici – Dimai route below the north face of Cima Grande.
