Watch A Huge Swiss Rock Fall

On Mon. Oct. 19, 2,000 cubic metres of rock fell away from Rocher du Mel de la Niva in the Swiss region of Evolène.

Following an earlier rockfall, the mountain had been under surveillance since 2013 and recent readings from monitoring equipment had suggested that the mountain may soon give way.

A nearby hamlet was evacuated ahead of time and some roads closed. The actual fall, caught from a nearby vantage point is shown in this video.
