Ice climbing comp season ends on high-note for Canadians

The 2014 UIAA ice climbing competition season wrapped-up with its final dates in Ufa, Russia.

In Ufa, all three competing Canadians, Jen Olson, Gord McArthur and Nathan Kutcher, made semi-finals. The 2014 season was one of the best Canada has had at the UIAA championships. In the world standings, McArthur finished 13thl, Kutcher finished 27th, and for the 2014 season, Olson finished an impressive 11th place.

“Well the season is officially done. What a haul,” said McArthur on the final day of competitions, “after 60 days traveling and competing around the world, with a stop at the Olympics, I’m heading home.” After the season finsihed, Kutcher said, “Hopefully next year Canadians will finally start making finals again.” With such a strong showing this season, rest assured next season will have Canada in the top 10. “Much improvement, looking forward to training harder,” said Olson after seeing the final scores.
