Lonnie Kauk
Lonnie Kauk has been popping up on the radar lately as a cutting-edge solo climber. A native of Yosemite Valley, he is a professional snowboarder, and yes, he is the son of legendary Yosemite climber Ron Kauk.
In 2013, Kauk made the second ascent of Honnold’s route, Too Big To Flail, a bold V10 high-ball in Bishop.
Kauk then soloed D.W.P 5.11c, and Express Way 5.11b, in Owen’s River Gorge.
In January 2014, Kauk made the first solo ascent of Looney Binge 5.12c, in Owen’s River Gorge. To see more images and videos of the ascent, visit Cody Tuttle on Instagram here.
